Ambati Rayudu comes up with a sarcastic message on Twitter after the World Cup snub
Rayudu was excluded from the team and Vijay Shankar has been named the new no.4 for the World Cup.
MSK Prasad-led selection panel, on Monday, finalised and announced India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming World Cup and it was a heartbreak for Ambati Rayudu. The Hyderabad batsman was the team’s number four since Asia Cup last year and there were no doubts about his selection. But as time passed on, runs and form deserted Rayudu and that eventually turned out to be the reason for his exclusion.
Vijay Shankar played well since the Australia and New Zealand tour and he grabbed the much-debated number four slot for the World Cup. However, everyone was waiting for Ambati Rayudu to comment on his World Cup snub and the man has come up with a sarcastic message on Twitter. He indirectly took a dig mentioning about ordering the 3D glasses to watch the mega-event from home. “Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup,” Rayudu’s tweet read.
Here’s his tweet:
Rayudu’s curious case
Last year after the Windies series at home, Virat Kohli had more or less confirmed that Ambati Rayudu was the perfect number four for the team. Rayudu even had given up red-ball cricket to concentrate on the limited-overs format of the game. But his form went downhill since then and he failed in the subsequent Australia and New Zealand ODIs.
He only played one significant knock which won India the game after they were 18/4 in the Kiwi nation. The failures continued in the home series against Australia as well and the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) was no different. At the same time, Vijay Shankar batted superbly whenever he got the chances and eventually got picked in the squad.
Though Rayudu’s hopes are not entirely finished as an injury to any player can pave the way for his inclusion in the 15-man squad before May 23.
