Ashes 2021-22: Six players to watch out in the series

If there is a rivalry that intensifies in the history of cricket, it is none other than the Ashes. An event with a great history, Ashes have been one of the most intense series in Test Cricket. An England-Australian rivalry, each of them playing for their country, has been truculent being a bowler or a batter. Being a highly anticipated series, Ashes has been a big winner in Test cricket. And being tough has been the key while the two of them have faced each other. With 71 Ashes series held, England and Australia have won the same number of titles, with Australia retaining the Ashes the most. For the next series, the 5-match series will be held in Australia. With the Gabba, Adelaide Oval, Melbourne, Sydney being the assigned stadiums for the Ashes, the red–ball series will be on the road from the 8th of December. And, with the squad also announced, some of them have been in some top form. And, with the Ashes known for each player’s magic performances, some of the players will be looking to replicate the same form in the Test series too. So, here are some of the players who should be watched out for in the 2021 Ashes. Players to watch out in Ashes 2021-22 1. Ollie Robinson Ollie Robinson. A medium-pace bowler, Robinson has been one of the exciting bowlers going around for England. Making his debut against New Zealand this year, Robinson has displayed wonderful bowling against the opposition. Being also a capable lower-order batter, Robinson has notched up satisfactory runs along with a century in FC cricket. The Kent-born all-rounder has a tally of 311 wickets from 122 innings at a satisfactory economy rate of 2.95 and an average of twenty-one. In the Pataudi Trophy against India, Robinson ended up being the highest wicket-taker with twenty-one scalps. A bowler who can bowl back of a length, Robinson should be a watch out for the Aussies. 2. Joe Root Joe Root. Batting at the No.3 spot, Root has been an important player for England in Tests. This year for England, the Yorkshire batter has scored 1455 runs from twenty-three innings at an impeccable average of sixty-six. Even in the Test series against India, Root scored three straight centuries and has been in great touch. Speaking about his Test stats against Australia, Root has got 1694 runs at a decent average of forty. Being yet to score a century in Australia, Root will be looking for three figures against the Aussie attack in the current form he is in. The Australian bowling unit should be watchful against the English batter as he can turn fortunes at times. 3. Marnus Labuschagne Marnus Labuschagne. A technically sound batter, Labuschagne has delivered superb batting performances. With a state of 1885 runs from thirty-one innings at a marvelous average of sixty. He is also an occasional leggie who can bowl leg-breaks to the batters’ area. Being in great form in the shield Sheffield tournament, Labuschagne should be yet another watch-out for the bowler. 4. A right-arm fast bowler, Richardson can swing the ball both ways. He is also a bowler who can click at speeds in the 140s. Making his Test debut against Sri Lanka back in 2019, Richardson got a fine start to his Test career. Since then, the Murdoch – born quickie has bagged a sum of injuries that made a stop in his international career. He has a record of ninety-one wickets from thirty-nine innings at an average of twenty-one, and an economy below three in his First-Class games. Coming from an excellent Shield Sheffield for Western Australia, Richardson has been in top form with twenty-three wickets from eight innings. A bowler who can bowl good lines, Richardson can be a match-winner for his nation. 5. James Anderson James Anderson. Playing a pivotal role for England in Test cricket, Anderson has been still a threat with the ball. Even at the ripe age of thirty-nine, Anderson does not look worn out and is still bossing the batters with beauties. With defining data in the ultimate format of cricket, Anderson has been great in the Test format. The Lancashire cricketer has 632 wickets from 309 innings at a brilliant economy of 2.82. On the Australian tracks, Anderson has not got a huge record but his bowling can be a threat to any opposition. Anderson should be one of the key players for England in the Ashes. 6. A belligerent batter, Warner has been a key player for Australia in crunch moments. Getting sacked by Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, Warner got excluded from his spot and his captaincy. But New South Wales player came back with a bang in the T20 World Cup. He also won Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup. Being in such good form lately, his batting form could be major damage against England. With a fine record, against England, the Aussie batter has achieved 1615 runs and an average of thirty-nine.
