Asia Cup 2018: Shakib Al Hasan's campaign comes to an end due to the finger injury

Bangladesh superstar Shakib Al Hasan has been playing the Asia Cup nursing an injury on his finger that has occurred during a tri-series earlier this year. Shakib was an important part of Bangladesh’s eleven during their all matches before the clash against Pakistan that turned into a virtual semi-final of the Asia Cup. Shakib wanted to undergo surgery and expressed his desire to skip the Asia Cup for immense pain on the injured finger.

But, Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan was not in favour of Shakib’s decision. He advised Shakib to manage the pain and play the Asia Cup. Shakib did so and played four matches in the Asia Cup taking painkillers. The star all-rounder played their last series in West Indies taking painkillers as well.

Shakib ruled out for that old injury

The Asia Cup for Shakib Al Hasan comes to an end after he suffered further blow on his injured finger. He went to the doctor before the Pakistan-game and found more problem on his injury that ruled him out of the tournament.

Khaled Mahmud the Bangladesh team confirmed the news of Shakib’s exclusion from the Asia Cup. He said to the media: “Shakib left UAE today afternoon (UAE time). A surgery is needed on his injured finger, and it should be done as early as possible. Shakib wanted his surgery to be done in New York. But, it is unlikely to happen. He might go to Melbourne to get surgery on his finger done.”

Shakib played four matches in the Asia Cup, but he was not up to the mark. Especially, he was struggling while batting as he scored only 39 runs in four innings. Shakib’s exclusion from the Asia Cup came as a big blow for Bangladesh who missed the service of Tamim Iqbal as he played only four balls in the event.
