While speaking to Time8, Debabrata Saikia, leader of the Assam Congress Legislature Party (ACLP) slammed the state government for not being able to provide adequate security to the team and further stated that the state police have been working politically. Saikia also added that miscreants have found power after the BJP government and as these incidents are a result of growing intolerance in the State.
Shameful incident
“It is a shameful incident for the people of Assam to have occurred such an act here. This has happened due to the security lapse and also that the State police have been working politically, that is the reason such incidents occur. At a city where they have a Police Commissionarate, the vigil should have been tight.” said Saikia.
While talking about CM Sonowal’s announcement of making Assam the sports capital of the country, Saikia claimed that the government had failed miserably. In relation to the recent incident, the Congress leader also recounted about the hospitality and treatment of tourists in the state, comparing it with the verse of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ that the government has caused a lot of disappointment for the public.
Meanwhile Oikya Sena Asom, through a release claimed State police and government’s failure on the said incident and further asked the CM to take necessary action against the ones who caused the mishap.
