Australia vs England, 1st ODI - Result Predictions
The teams are evenly matched in the limited-overs format.
After being thumped 4-0 in the Ashes, the visiting England side will look to restore some pride in the 5-match ODI series which is starting on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The white ball Cricket is a completely different kettle of fish than the red ball Cricket and the conditions probably don’t matter in it as much as it matters in the longest format of the game.
England will certainly back themselves to give Australia a tougher fight in 50-over format and will be keen to try and push for a series win. The Kangaroos, on the other hand, will want to extend their recent dominance over the Poms in the One-Dayers as well and pile more misery on the arch-rivals.

England
A lot of new faces who were not the part of the Ashes campaign have joined the England camp for the ODI series and they would have brought in a breath of fresh air with them. There will be no scars of the humiliating Ashes loss as the new team under the new captain Eoin Morgan will aim to start it all from the scratch.
England have got some outstanding One Day players in the squad in the form of Jason Roy, Alex Hales and Jos Buttler. The fiery all-rounder Ben Stokes had also been included in the original squad, but he was later withdrawn and in his absence, it’s Jonny Bairstow who is likely to bat at no. 5 tomorrow.
Predicted XI: Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (C), Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler (WK), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
Australia
Australia have made some interesting selections for the ODI series as well just like they had done for the Ashes. While Tim Paine is back as the gloveman, the veteran batsman Cameron White has replaced the injured Chris Lynn in the squad and may be given an opportunity in the middle order. It will be interesting to see who Steve Smith picks for the all-rounder’s slot. He has two options in Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh. Both are very, very efficient with the bat and are more than useful with the ball as well.
Predicted XI: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith (C), Cameron White, Travis Head, Marcs Stoinis, Tim Paine (WK), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
We believe Australia will emerge victorious in this game against England.
