Australian T20I squad and their IPL experience
Quite a few Aussies have the experience of playing the IPL and that makes the T20 series an even battle.
9. Kane Richardson
While Coulter-Nile was the highest wicket-taker in the ODIs with 10 wickets, Richardson lies 3 short of him. Keeping Pat Cummins aside, the Australian pace unit did a decent job in the ODIs, not allowing the Indians to unleash in the initial few overs. Richardson has played for multiple IPL teams, the most recent being the Kohli-led RCB, that gives him a pretty clear idea of how Virat would think not just as a batter but also as skipper. The right-arm pacer has bowled in 14 IPL matches to pick 18 wickets with the best of 3/13.
10. Andrew Tye
Though he wasn’t a part of the original squad, Tye who had a brilliant IPL last season is back in India as a replacement for Pat Cummins who bowed out of the tour midway. The wily fox has tricked many batters in the last edition of IPL, where he picked up 12 wickets in just 6 matches. Known for his pace variation and his most powerful weapon knuckle ball, he fits perfectly beside Kane and Nathan.
11. Adam Zampa
While the leggie hasn’t been very successful in the ODIs facing the heat from Hardik Pandya; he could pick just 4 wickets in 3 matches. Zampa can still be a handful if he is able to replicate his 2016 IPL knowledge and understanding of Indian conditions and pitches in the upcoming challenge. Playing for the Supergiant team he picked up 12 wickets in just 5 wickets, and also maintained an economy rate of under 7. Zampa played 11 matches in the last two seasons and picked 19 wickets with an average of 14.63.
Two players of the Australian team Tim Paine and Jason Behrendorff are yet to feature in the IPL.
