Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain suspended after allegations of child torture
Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain suspended after allegations of child torture: A new controversy has hit Bangladesh cricket like a bolt from the blue. Bangladesh cricketer Shahadat Hossain has been suspended after allegations of child torture were levied upon him. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has suspended the fast bowler Shahadat Hossain for allegedly torturing an 11-year-old housemaid. Charges haven’t been proved yet but Hossain will not take part in any cricket tournament unless and until he gets cleared off all the charges.
The chief executive of the BCB, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, said Hossain has been suspended “from all kind of cricketing activities under BCB’s jurisdiction until a final decision is reached regarding the ‘torture accusations’ brought against him.
“The law will take its own course. BCB has nothing to do with it. He has to prove himself innocent.”
In a career that spans over a decade Hossain has been rather successful as a professional having played 38 Tests and 51 one-day internationals for Bangladesh. Many former cricketers have rated the cricketer highly and it will be such a shame if the allegation is proved in the court of law, it will be a real waste of talent if anything like that happens.
Shahadat last played a Test for Bangaldesh against Pakistan this year but lost his place because of injuries. Now after these allegations, his career is in serious jeopardy.
