Bangladesh name Mustafizur's replacement for T20Is against Afghanistan
Mustafizur Rahman is ruled out with a toe injury.
Team Bangladesh received a major blow ahead of their next international assignment. They are scheduled to play a short three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, India. They were jolted by the injury to pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who has been ruled out of the series. The team management has announced Abul Hasan as his replacement for the series against Afghanistan.
Hasan’s name might be a new one for the cricket fans around the world. But the followers of Bangladesh cricket would remember him for his efforts half a decade ago. Hasan had shot to fame in 2012 when he became the first cricketer to score a century on Test debut whilst batting at number 10 position. He has scored a gutsy 113 against the touring West Indies side in Khulna.
He went on to play 3 Tests, 7 ODIs, and 4 T20Is during the 2012-2013 season for the national side. He was dropped owing to his inconsistent run with the ball. He is a right-arm pacer by trade and has played 50 T20s in his career thus far. The 25-year old has scalped 49 wickets with the best of 5/28 in the shortest format of the game. The task will not be an easy one for Abul in the upcoming series. He has the big void to fill in Mustafizur’s absence.
Big times ahead for Bangladesh cricket
Abul has a very good chance to establish his claims to be a regular member of the team. The Bangladeshi side has a lot of cricket to play in the next couple of months. The T20I series against Afghanistan will commence on June 3. The next two matches of the series will be played on June 5 and June 7.
About three weeks later, the team will head to the Caribbean for a full tour. There they will play a practice game before heading into the two-match Test series. The Tests will be followed by 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The last two T20Is will be played in the United States. Lauderhill, Florida, will host the two sides in those fixtures.
