Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe, 2020: 2-match T20I series – Statistical Preview
All the key stats and numbers ahead of the 2-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
After clinching the Test and ODI series without a defeat, Bangladesh will look to seal the 2-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on Monday. Bangladesh, led by Mahmudullah, suffered T20I series losses in India and Pakistan over the last couple of months. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, will feature in the T20Is for the first time since October last year. They were part of a T20I Tri-series against Singapore and Nepal back then which they won by the virtue of topping the table.

0 – Zimbabwe has not won any of the four bilateral T20I series they played against Bangladesh thus far. The Bangla team won the one-off T20I at home in 2006 while the next three series ended in a draw: 1-1 in Zimbabwe 2013, 1-1 in Bangladesh 2015 and 2-2 in Bangladesh 2016.
7-4 – Bangladesh lead the head to head record in the T20I format against Zimbabwe by 7-4. In the last four years, these two teams faced off only two times. Bangladesh won by 39 runs and 3 wickets respectively in those two meetings during the T20I Tri-series at home last year.
6/13 – Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has been added to Bangladesh’s squad for this T20I series. Nasum claimed only six wickets during the recent BPL across 13 matches and failed to pick even one wicket in 8 games. In his 17-match T20 career, Nasum bagged just 8 wickets and turned wicketless in 10 games.
13.4 – Mustafizur Rahman has a bowling average of 13.4 in the T20I format against Zimbabwe. Across six T20Is against them, Mustafizur claimed 10 wickets at a strike rate of 14 and has an economy rate of 5.74.
61.66 – Mushfiqur Rahim had a batting average of 61.66 in the Twenty20 format during the 2019/20 season. He scored 555 runs across 17 T20s in the 2019/20 season with help of five fifties. Tamim Iqbal also scored 500 runs in the 14 T20s played during the 2019/20 season at an average of 41.66 with four half-centuries.
3984 – Runs Mushfiqur Rahim aggregated in his Twenty20 career thus far. Rahim needs 16 more runs to become the 3rd Bangladesh player with 4000 T20 runs after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. Mahmudullah Riyad (3859) is also 141 runs away from reaching 4000 runs in the T20 format.
5995 – Mushfiqur Rahim is five runs short of becoming only the 2nd player with 6000 runs on Bangladesh soil in International cricket after Tamim Iqbal (6515).
In fact, Mushfiqur (3907 in Mirpur) is also 93 runs away from becoming the 3rd player to score 4000 International runs at a venue. Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have scored 4133 and 4064 runs respectively in Mirpur.
