Hobart Hurricanes continue their impressive run in the tournament as they have won each of the five matches they have played this season. Their last four wins have come while chasing with D’Arcy Short playing a key role in all those matches. The Hurricanes will be hoping to make it six in six and register their biggest winning streak in the BBL surpassing their five wins in the previous edition. They will be up against the Melbourne Renegades in their 6th match on Monday.

The Renegades started with back to back wins but lost their next three matches and dropped down on the points table. Their batting has been the main worry for them in this season though the bowlers did a good job. For the game against the Hurricanes, Aaron Finch comes into the 13-man squad in place of Joe Mennie. Finch is expected to lead the team in his comeback match. The Hurricanes don’t have to make changes to their squad considering it is a winning combination.

Match Details:

The 23rd match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 will be played between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.

The match starts at 7:15 PM local time (8:15 AM GMT) (1:45 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony SIX and Sony SIX HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Docklands’ pitch has been on the slower side in this BBL and produced below par scores. The chasing sides enjoy a good amount of success as the teams batting first here collapse hunting big scores. On Saturday, Sixers and Renegades will be playing on a pitch used for the WBBL game. As a result, the game will have an even slower surface.

Injury and Availability Updates after the announcement of the squads:

(Will be updated when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Mohammad Nabi and Daniel Christian’s performances have been the base of the Renegades’ victories. Nabi scored 35 and 48* respectively and picked one wicket in the first two matches but aggregated only 16 runs in the next three games with one wicket to his name. Christian bagged a 3-fer in the first match and made an unbeaten 49 in the next. He bagged only one wicket in the previous three matches and scored 38 runs in all.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

D’Arcy Short will once again be the preferred option as captain. Given his value with both bat and ball, Short can be considered as vice-captain. Aaron Finch could also start well on his return to the league. He and Wade can be ideal for vice-captain role. The likes of Christian and Nabi also deserve a shot.

With the likes of Wade, Short and Finch in this game, the costly all-rounders in form of Christian and Nabi might not fit into your XI. Some other players with 9 credits have to be excluded to fit all these five players.
