Perth Scorchers registered their 3rd straight win as they thumped the Hobart Hurricanes by a 77-run margin on Monday. Josh Inglis smashed eight boundaries including 4 sixes on the course of a 46-ball 73. Skipper Mitchell Marsh scored 40 from 29 balls as the duo shared a 109-run partnership in only 67 balls.

Scorchers had to settle down with 175/7 as they made only 50 runs in last six overs. The Hurricanes never got going in the chase with as many as seven batsmen getting dismissed for 5 or fewer runs in their innings. They were eventually bowled out for 98 in 17.1 overs.

77 – Hurricanes’ 77-run loss in this match is now their biggest defeat in the BBL at their home ground Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Their previous biggest loss here was by 51 runs against Melbourne Renegades in 2013-14. Overall, this was the 2nd biggest defeat in the Big Bash for the Hurricanes. The biggest defeat came against Sydney Sixers in 2015-16 at the SCG, a match which they lost by 95 runs while chasing 187.

Hobart Hurricanes were bowled out for only 91 in that match; their lowest total ever in the BBL. The 98/10 against Scorchers on Monday stands second on the list and it is also only the 2nd time that Hurricanes were bowled out for a total less than 100 in the Big Bash League.

77 – This 77-run win is also the 2nd biggest BBL win for the Perth Scorchers in terms of runs. Their biggest win came against the Adelaide Strikers in 2012-13 which they won by 98 runs.

347 – Mitch Marsh’s 347 runs in this tournament are the most by him in a Big Bash edition. These are also the 3rd most runs in a BBL edition for the Perth Scorchers standing only behind Shaun Marsh 412 runs in 2012-13 and Ashton Turner’s 378 runs in 2018-19.

Marsh struck 20 maximums across the nine innings in the ongoing edition, the most by him in a BBL season. Mitch surpassed the 19 sixes he hit during the 2011-12 edition of BBL where he aggregated 309 runs; the only other time he scored 300+ runs in a BBL.

Bailey @ 1000 in Hobart:

1008 – George Bailey completed 1000 runs in the Twenty20 format at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart when he was on 28. He is the first player to aggregate 1000 T20 runs at this venue. Bailey scored 1008 runs from 36 innings at an average of 38.76 and has struck 8 fifties.

D’Arcy Short’s 700 runs are the most by any player in the Big Bash League in Hobart where Bailey stands second with 682 runs.
