The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the use of cash cards to give to the players. In an attempt to keep pace with changing times, ideas have been coming about using the cash cards. The BCCI is keen on implementing the same sometime in future.

As per reports in the Mumbai Mirror, the powerful Indian cricket board is mulling over the introduction of cash cards. These cards will be given away to all national players. Currently, these cards are limited to a handful of officials of the board.

“Basically we are planning it for our team. We want cards to be given to the players and officials. Already we give it to certain type of officials and want to expand it,” BCCI source quoted on Friday.

The cash cards are nothing but prepaid cards that are given away by the banks. The users of these cash cards can use them as and when required. The benefit of using cash card is that it can be used by the persons who do not have a bank account with them. In order to discuss more on the issue, plus hold discussions on other monetary matters, the board is planning to conduct a treasurers’ seminar.

The BCCI will conduct the seminar to explain the tricky issues that people need to be aware of about Goods and Services Tax (GST). The GST bill is likely to be passed by the Central Government. There have been intense discussions circulating the GST bill in the Parliament. Almost every business and enterprise will be affected by the passing of this bill. The BCCI stands as no exception for it. Other tax principles and accounting matters at the macro level will also be dealt with.

Quoting about the board’s interaction with the affiliate treasurer bodies, the board said it is a smooth task. “It’s about normal bread and butter work,” said the sources.
