IPL 2021: Best catches in IPL history
The best catches we have seen so far in IPL.
3. Trent Boult (RCB vs DD, Bengaluru, 2018)
In the 2018 match between Delhi and Bangalore, a catch by Trent Boult caught the attention of world cricket like none other. Delhi was defending a score of 175. With Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers set and building a partnership, it seemed the two will carry their team to a win. But, Kohli’s wicket at the time turned the match slightly in Delhi’s favour.
Harshal Patel bowled a full toss down the leg side, which was begging to be hit for a boundary. Kohli flicked the ball with the help of his wrists and the ball travelled to the fence at rocket speed. Boult, who was stationed at the mid-wicket boundary judged the path of the ball perfectly and threw himself in the air.
He plucked the ball while being in the air and caught it with his left hand. But, it was the momentum that was carrying him over the boundary. However, he just managed to keep himself inside the fence. His chest was almost touching the boundary but he maintained the balance. It took some time for everyone to calm themselves down after this magical catch.
