India’s third-highest Test wicket-taker with a tally of 417 wickets in 103 games, Harbhajan Singh is also India’s first bowler to take a Test hat-trick. The partnership between Harbhajan and Anil Kumble created numerous magic moments until the arrival of Ashwin and Jadeja. Bhajji made his international debut at the age of 17, but he was a novice when it comes to disciplinary conducts.

In his teenage days, he was dismissed by the NCA for indiscipline. The Turbanator began his affair with the Aussies at a very young age- after taking the wicket of Ricky Ponting he made provoking gestures and was levied with a match ban. He has had altercations with the Guwahati Police in 2002, with Greg Chappell in 2005 and in 2006 he endorsed a liquor brand without his turban which got him in a lot of trouble.

But there were more stumbling blocks yet to come for Bhajji’s already roller-coaster ride. The 2008 ‘Monkeygate’ scandal created turmoil in the cricket fraternity, but Bhajji managed to get away without any suspension. This was followed by him slapping Sreesanth after a loss in an IPL game. Sreesanth left the field with tears. The off-spinner was suspended for the remainder of the IPL and banned for five ODIs.
