Boria Majumdar reveals Sachin Tendulkar's mastery other than cricket
Majumdar is known to be a close friend of Sachin.
Cricket historian Boria Majumdar has revealed that the former Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is a great wine connoisseur. Majumdar is a close friend of the little master and has shared an interesting story during a Christmas special short film shot in Bengali known as ‘Foodka’.
The movie also features Kolkata radio host and TV personality Mir Afsar Ali. However, he has recalled the old memory when he was in England with the former Indian legendary cricketer. Sachin Tendulkar, since retiring from cricket, has been involved in some different things to keep himself busy.
While he has narrated his story in the form of a documentary which garnered a huge response in Bollywood, he also sang a cricket song and launched a game called ‘Sachin Saga Cricket Champions’. He is also busy investing his time in the betterment of other sports and is also the co-owner of a football team and a Kabaddi team.
Interesting story involving wine
Boria Majumdar while on the show ahead of the Christmas disclosed an interesting story involving win and Sachin Tendulkar. “I have an interesting story involving wine. My dear friend the great Mr Tendulkar is a wine connoisseur,” he said. He also added that how Sachin surprised him by taking him to the underground tunnel of St. John’s College which is a wine cellar.
“Once in Oxford, England, he told me: ‘If you come to St. John’s, then I can give you a great experience’. His daughter [Sara Tendulkar] used to study in Oxford then. I asked, ‘What experience?’ He said, ‘come, I’ll take you. n the basement of the St John’s College, there’s an underground tunnel which is almost one km long and that full is a wine cellar. They bottle their own wine and there were 180,000 bottles of wine at that point of time. Sachin was blown,” Boria recalled an old but interesting story about the Master himself.
