BPL 2019: Best Overseas XI of the tournament
Comilla Victorians collected their second BPL title thanks to sensational knock from Bangladesh's greatest batsman of all time, Tamim Iqbal.
10. Wahab Riaz (Comilla Victorians)
Wahab Riaz is fondly remembered for his spell against Australia in the 2015 World Cup in Adelaide and the left-arm speedster might’ve replicated something similar in the final on Friday. While all the other bowlers struggled, he returned with figures of 3/28 and broke Dhaka’s backbone with his outstanding spell.
This edition has been quite outstanding for Wahab Riaz, who ripped apart the batters with his sheer pace and class. With 16 wickets in 10 games, he was one of the top wicket takers and he also maintained a stellar average of 15.81.
11. Sohail Tanvir (Sylhet Sixers)
Another Pakistani who makes it to the list is veteran Sohail Tanvir, who didn’t get to play an awful lot of games, but was pretty decent while he was there. His experience clearly made a difference but was just not enough for the side to get into the playoffs.
The 34-year-old returned with 9 wickets from 7 matches for the Sixers and had the third best economy among all bowlers with 24 or more overs (5.88). If only he and David Warner were available for a longer period of time, this could’ve been the Sixers’ season.
