It was the 30th game of tournament which was also the last contest of the league stages. The Bulls locked horns with the Dynamites at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. The match was a dead rubber as all the teams had qualified into the playoff including the Bulls and Dynamites.

Barisal Bulls won the toss and decided to make the Dynamites bat first. Farhad Reaza and Mohammad Hafeez gave a decent start to the innings but, could not make it extraordinary as Farhad Reaza (19 from 10 balls) lost his wicket to debutant off-spinner Sohag Gazi. Hafeez (25 runs from 27 balls) also departed in the next over to debutant Canadian offie Nikhil Dutta. Dutta struck twice in the coming overs. Firstly, he removed Malcolm Waller (10 runs off 9 balls) and then Nasir Hossain hit one straight into the hands of deep mid-wicket fielder.

But the Dynamites innings had two small yet important partnerships which took them to a decent total. Ryan ten Doeschate (22 runs from 23 balls) and Mosaddek Hossain scored 34 runs together. Later, Hossain (30 runs from 31 balls) carried on after Doeschate’s dismissal and stitched together a 24 runs partnership with Shykat Ali.

With the help of such small contributions from every batsman, Dynamites managed a functional score of 136 in the end of the stipulated overs. Debutant Nikhil Dutta (3/18) was the best bowler for the Bulls. Rayad Emrit (2/29) was also effective.

In reply, the Bulls had a bad start. Rony Talukdar was the first to go in the third over. The rest of the batting order also followed as back to back wickets fell in short intervals. No batsman could reach double figures. It was utter disappointment from the Barisal Bulls side. The match looked virtually finished when the Bulls were struggling at the score of 76/7.

However, Rayad Emrit, who came in to bat at number 8, turned out to be the savior for the Bulls. His crucial match winning knock of 54 runs off just 28 balls saved the match. Nikhil Dutta also played a good supporting role in the nail-biting chase.

It was an exciting contest. The match was stretched till the last over and the result was clinging in uncertainty. 10 runs were required off the last over. Emrit was on the strike as Mohd. Irfan stood ready with the ball in his hand. Irfan, however, was rendered ineffective as Emrit managed to squeeze a boundary off the very first ball of the over the strike was rotated off the next ball and debutant Nikhil Dutta was at the strike. Dutta looked under no pressure and hit a fuller delivery square of the wicket for the match-winning runs.

This victory will surely boost the morale of the Barisal Bulls as they go into the playoffs. The excellent bowling efforts by the Dynamite bowlers got wasted due to the heroics of Emrit. Mosharaff Hossain (3/29) and Rabil Hamad (2/23) were the bowlers who did the maximum damage to the Bulls early in their chase. Mohammad Irfan, Mosaddek Hossain, and Nasir Hossain also chipped in with one dismissal each to their name.

Brief Scores:

Dhaka Dynamites: 136/6 in 20 overs (Mosaddek Hossain 30; Nikhil Dutta 3/18)

Barisal Bulls: 137/8 in 19.4 overs (Rayad Emrit 54; Mosharaff Hossain 3/29)
