Brian Lara explains why SRH can dominate the match against MI
SRH needs to win the contest for grabbing the playoffs berth.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to lock horns with Mumbai Indians for their final league match on Tuesday (November 3). It’s a must-win match for Hyderabad to seal their playoffs berth and would leave no stone unturned to do the same. On the other hand, MI are sitting comfortably on the top position in points tally after becoming the first team to qualify for playoffs in IPL 2020. On the other hand, SRH will come with all guns blazing to dominate the show.
In the same light, former West Indies great Brian Lara feels that SRH is strong enough to turn the game in their favour. Hyderabad are having a great net run rate on the positive side at the current time, and a win against Mumbai can certainly give them the required result. In fact, David Warner and company have played some good matches in recent times.
“Yeah, definitely. They (SRH) found themselves in this position, and that’s from good playing in their recent games. So, I expect them to actually be up for the challenge. Mumbai Indians may be easing off, rest a few players, which will favour SRH, but I think they have got to be ready for this quarter-final and for the rest of the tournament. If they win, they are in, and I think they have got what it takes to do so,” said Lara on Star Sports show Cricket Live.
It’s a must-win game for SRH to grab the playoffs berth
If SRH wins this contest, they may land up on the third spot, given their positive net run rate. In this case, they will lock horns with Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator on Friday. If they win this match, they will face the team, which will lose in qualifier 1. The qualifier one is set to take place between Delhi and Mumbai.
The Mumbai team may rest some of their senior players in the match against SRH today. They have nothing at stake, and a win will only give them 20 points, and their top slot will continue. The playoffs matches of IPL 2020 are set to commence from November 5.
