Can't believe people wrote off David Warner, it is like poking the bear: Aaron Finch

David Warner will pad up for the Australian side in the all-important Ashes series that is slated to commence on 8th December 2021.  And, ahead of this hugely anticipated Test series between the kangaroos and England, James Anderson has offered his thoughts on Warner.

Anderson said that he has played so much against Warner but can never clearly say that he has dominated the left-hander. Anderson also added that Warner is a quality batter. Anderson also opined that Warner has a tremendous record in Australia, and will be a different ‘animal’ in his own den.

“We’ve played so much cricket against David Warner, we know you can never say you’re actually on top of him — he’s that good of a batter, he’s got that much quality. His record in Australia is ridiculous, so we know it’s going to be a different animal to the one we faced in 2019 in our summer,” said Anderson as quoted by Fox Sports.

Former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell said that many people had written off David Warner ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup, but the veteran proved how valuable he is in the tournament. Chappell also added that Warner is extremely important for the Australian Test side as he is a fast, skilful and aggressive opener.

“Many had written him off before the T20 World Cup, only to have him prove how important he is at the top of the order. I think he is even more important in the Test line-up.

A skilful, fast-scoring opening batsman can be invaluable in setting up the game. Teams with aggressive openers cause opposition captains and bowlers to toss and turn at night,” concluded Chappell.

Aaron Finch said that he just could not believe that people had written off a player like Warner. Adding that Warner plays his best cricket when his back is against the wall, Finch concluded by stating that writing off Warner is like poking a bear.

“Can’t believe people wrote him off. That’s when he plays his best cricket. It was almost like poking the bear,” said Finch.
