Chris Jordan replaces Steve Finn for the UAE tour: ECB has named Chris Jordan as the replacement for Steve Finn who was ruled out of the Test series versus Pakistan owing to a stress fracture in his left ankle.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said: “Steven Finn has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour of the UAE with a bone stress injury to his left foot, which requires a period of off-loading to aid recovery. Finn will return to the UK today for further assessment.
“Pace bowler Chris Jordan has been called up to both the Test and ODI squads to face Pakistan and will arrive during the first Test.”
Jordan, who plays for the county side Sussex, replace Finn in the Test as well as ODI series in UAE. He will return to the English side for the first time since last playing against West Indies at Barbados in May.
Steve Finn was upset about the injury. He later tweeted a picture of himself using the crutches and wrote: “Gutted to be heading home from this UAE tour. Going to have to get better at using these things, blooming hard work!”
Finn has spent the entire three days on crutches. It is a setback for him since he made a remarkable comeback during this years Ashes at home. However, he will look back to get fit before the tour of South Africa.
Steve Finn was in very good touch. He has put his contention as the third seamer in the bowling attack after an impressive spell of 4-46 in the second 2 day tour match against Pakistan A. It was during this match that he picked up this injury.
