Jamaica Tallawahs bounced back from successive defeats as they got the better of Guyana Amazon Warriors in a low-scoring game. Fidel Edwards and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman took three wickets apiece to restrict Guyana to 108/9. Fidel began the match by cleaning up Brandon King on the very first ball while Mujeeb picked the big wickets of Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran. The Tallawahs struggled in the short chase yet again but Glenn Phillips’ 18-ball 26 at the top ensured the required rate was below six through the chase.

Here are all the major statistical highlights from Jamaica Tallawahs’ 5-wicket win over Guyana:

Wicket on the very first ball of the match:

2 – Fidel Edwards became only the 2nd bowler of Jamaica Tallawahs to pick a wicket on the very first ball of a CPL match. The other instance recorded Krishmar Santokie when TKR’s Sunil Narine hitting one straight to mid-off during the 2017 season match at the Sabina Park. Overall, this was the 7th instance of a wicket falling on the very first legitimate delivery of a CPL match.

3 – The dismissal of Brandon King was the 3rd time where Guyana Amazon Warriors lost a wicket on the very first legitimate ball of a CPL match. No other team has been on the receiving end of this as many times as Guyana.

Lendl Simmons in the 2013 edition against Barbados Tridents and Cameron Delport in the 2018 season finale against Trinbago Knight Riders are the other two instances of Guyana losing a win on the first ball of a CPL match.

A low total for Guyana:

108/9 – The total of 108/9 by Guyana Amazon Warriors in this game is their joint-lowest total in the history of CPL while playing full 20 overs. Guyana also posted 108/9 against Trinidad franchise during the 2015 season also at the Queen’s Park Oval. Overall, the total of 108/9 is the joint 3rd lowest CPL total for Guyana.

An economical spell from Mujeeb:

3/11 – The 11 runs conceded by Mujeeb-ur-Rahman in his four overs are the joint 3rd fewest conceded by a Jamaica Tallawahs bowler in a CPL match. Imad Wasim took 2/6 in his four overs during the 2016 season game against Guyana while Sandeep Lamichhane gave away only 8 runs alongside picking up two wickets during Saturday’s game against Guyana.

Mujeeb is also the 3rd spin bowler of the Tallawahs to bowl a maiden over in the CPL. Daniel Vettori in the 2014 season and Imad Wasim during the 2016 edition bowled maidens while playing for Jamaica.

Sandeep’s misery in boundaries:

52 – Sandeep Lamichhane has not conceded a boundary in the last 52 legitimate balls he bowled in this tournament. His last boundary came on the 20th ball he bowled during their 2nd match against Trinbago. In the two matches against the Guyana team, Sandeep conceded only 20 runs in eight overs and also claimed three wickets.
