Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) opens its maiden academy in Akola, Maharashtra
Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) plans to open 20 more new academies in various cities of India by mid next year.
26th June 2019, Akola – Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) opens its maiden center in Maharashtra in Akola in the presence of ace cricketer Mr. Yusuf Pathan and Mr. Harmeet Vasdev, Managing Director (CAP), at a press conference held at RDG Women’s college ground opposite IMA Hall, near Nehru Park square, civil line road Akola. The academy will employ state-of-the-art coaching techniques to teach and develop budding cricketers in Akola.
CAP has promised to contribute INR 2 crores alongside its partners for future extensions across India in different urban cities including Gujarat, Punjab, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The qualified mentors, along with Pathan brothers Irfan and Yusuf initiated CAP around two years back. The siblings started the venture because of the passion and enthusiasm they shared for the game.
CAP is currently nurturing talent in seventeen cities, which include Ranchi, Mainpuri, Ludhiana, Delhi, Kota, Patna, Hisar, Morbi, Noida, Bengaluru, Rajkot, Surat, Sonipat, Port Blair, and Lunawada.
Recently, 40 students have already been selected to play at district and state levels along with 2 students getting selected by Kolkata Knight Riders to bowl at the net sessions in Eden Gardens during this season’s IPL. Trials for scholarships are also in full swing, aiming to aid the talented with the right resources.
CAP seems to move the required step in the right direction and is also known for transforming raw talent into players who were later selected to play at a district level/state level.
Yusuf also spent quality time with the students
Yusuf Pathan, Director, Cricket Academy of Pathans, says, “We invest copious time and energy interacting with students and their parents. With the launch of CAP in Akola, we are expanding in the Western part of the county and are looking to tap into the huge reserve of young cricket enthusiasts and give them world-class coaching infrastructure so that the city can start churning out district, state and national level players”.
Yusuf Pathan also spent quality time interacting with students and their parents. He advised students on the different pathways that they could follow to succeed in the sport and also made them aware of the many different qualities learnt playing the sport that aid the personal development of an individual. The academy provides coaching for kids to play cricket as well as those who aspire to become coaches in order to understand the technicalities of the game and in return execute their learned skills on kids. Also, the academy focuses on nutrition, psychology and the overall physical development of the students.
Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) has tied up with UK based Cricket technology partnerPitch Vision to track students’ performance in real time via a cutting-edge technology program. This technology closes the gap between the Pathan brothers, coaches and the students.
According to Mr. Harmeet Vasdev, Managing Director, CAP- “CAP plans to expand its operations to tier II and tier III cities to give an opportunity to all the budding cricketers who love the sport and need access to world-class coaching infrastructure. India has a massive pool of talent and most of it lies in these cities. We are excited about the prospect of utilizing the talent pool and producing district, state and national level cricketers from these cities.”
Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) plans to open 20 more new academies in various cities of India by mid next year, with openings soon in Vizag, Haridwar, Shrirampur, Agra, Mysore, Sangrur and Kadapa.
