5 current batters who can go close to Sachin Tendulkar's record of 51 Test centuries
In the past, some of the names were considered favourites to shatter the God of Cricket's record of 51 Test tons.
3. Virat Kohli (27)
Virat Kohli was regarded as one of the favourites to shatter Sachin Tendulkar’s monumental records in ODI and Tests. However, after 2019, his form dipped for almost three years, and with his advancing age, the chances of him breaking his compatriot’s record in Test cricket seems difficult.
Recently, Kohli had great outings with the bat in T20Is, and fans are expecting him to show the same attitude in Tests also by hitting centuries. Currently, in 102 games, he has notched up 27 hundreds, which is 25 tons short to surpass Master Blaster’s 51 centuries.
However, if he gets his rhythm back in Test matches soon and scores consistently in the remaining three or four years of his career, he could cross the 40-century mark in red-ball cricket, which would be considered close to Tendulkar’s achievement.
