2. Joe Root (28)

Joe Root is considered one of the best batters in Tests due to his aggressive batting style. In his more than 10 years of Test career, he has delivered many match-winning knocks for England. However, since 2021, he has been in the beast mode against bowlers by scoring 2,806 runs in 29 games.

This year, Root crossed the 10,000-run mark in Test cricket by scoring a vibrant century against New Zealand at Lord’s. With this, the former Australian cricketer Mark Taylor and a great many cricket enthusiasts also started believing that the English batter could break Tendulkar’s record of most runs in Tests.

Root also grabbed the eyes of many cricket fans for scoring 11 sensational centuries within two years. Currently, the dynamic batter has notched up overall 28 hundreds in Tests and and with that, there is a discussion that whether he can shatter Tendulkar's record of most centuries or not. However, going through the current scenario, it's unlikely for him to smash Tendulkar's huge record. But if he carries on with his current form, the 31-year-old could score 40+ Test hundreds and put himself on the list of Test batters with the most centuries.
