Bowlers with best economy in death overs in IPL 2025

Economy in the death overs has become one of the most crucial aspects of a bowler’s performance in the IPL. In the T20 format, especially during the final overs, bowlers are under immense pressure to restrict the run flow. With batters constantly finding new ways to score, bowlers have had to adapt to many variations. This season, bowlers are stepping up and bringing something new to the table to outsmart the opposition. With the BCCI now permitting the use of spit on the ball once again, it has come in handy for death bowling. Despite not being as impactful this year as he was in 2024, the Sri Lankan pacer is among the top five bowlers with the best economy rate. In the current season, he has bowled 13.4 overs in the death, taken seven wickets, having an economy of 9.44, and holds an average of 18.43. What sets him apart is his slinging action, which is very hard to pick up for any player who is facing him for the first time. Many experienced players have also found it tough to tackle the Sri Lankan. 4. Mohammed Siraj - 9.00 Mohammed Siraj. However, with his pace and variations, he has found success in death. With an economy of 9.00 in the seven overs bowled in that period, Siraj has managed to pick three wickets. The Hyderabad-born who didn't play any international fixture since Border Gavaskar Trophy, used the break well to asses his bowling and skills he can add to it to outclass the batters, especially in the shortest format of the game. Siraj has so far taken 12 wickets in the 2025 edition and has been an important player in helping GT hold on to the top spot in the points tally. So far, Rathi has bowled seven overs in that phase and picked three wickets, and has an impressive economy of 8.43 and an average of 19.67. Rishabh Pant, who usually brings the 25-year-old either in the powerplay or middle-overs, has tried his luck in the death overs as well, which has given him the desired results. Meanwhile, in nine games, he has so far picked nine wickets with the best figures of 2/30 coming against the Punjab Kings. 2. Jasprit Bumrah - 7.67 Jasprit Bumrah. In five games, he has bowled nine overs at the death, claiming four wickets at an average of 17.25. Notably, three of his four wickets came from full tosses and off-cutters. The ace pacer also recently equalled Lasith Malinga’s record of most IPL wickets for MI, with 170 scalps. While MI’s death bowling has struggled overall, Bumrah’s return has brought them back in a strong position, with the team now conceding just 25 runs on average in their final three overs. 1. Despite bowling just seven overs at the death, he’s managed to pick up two wickets at an average of 24. Traditionally not seen as a death-overs specialist, the spinner's variations and mindset have made him a go-to bowler in the last five overs. Notably, he sits fourth on the wicket-takers list with 12 scalps. His economy has been brilliant against both left-handers (6.90) and right-handers (5.50), with an impressive dot ball percentage. DC skipper Axar Patel, who himself is a spinner, has shown immense trust in his teammate to pull them out of tough situations and give the least number of runs possible.
