There is an interesting reunion of sorts brewing for the huge encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Hardik Pandya is set to lead the Mumbai Indians (MI) side for the first time against his former team Gujarat Titans (GT).
Shubman Gill has been named the new captain and the youngster will be without the services of one his most senior stars. Mohammed Shami has already been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to injury. This will not deter the IPL 2022 winners from trying to make aa strong case against Mumbai Indians.
3. Rohit Sharma vs Umesh Yadav
Former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma will have a huge point to prove when he takes the field on Sunday. There is a massive outrage against the decision taken by the team management to replace Rohit Sharma as a skipper of the side.
Umesh Yadav meanwhile, will be looking to have his say with the ball. The 36-year-old hasn’t played for India since 2023 and will be looking to make his case for a national call up. The veteran pacer will be looking to exploit Rohit Sharma’s weakness to push at the away going delivery.
The 36-year-old MI opener has the tendency to play away from his body and poke the ball leaving him. This brings the wicketkeeper as well the slips and even the point fielder into play. Rohit Sharma is vulnerable in the first 10 balls in the T20 match and Umesh Yadav will want to exploit this weakness.
