Rajasthan Royals are unlikely to make the same mistake as Royal Challengers Bengaluru did ahead of the 2022 IPL mega-auction. The Bengaluru franchise released Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of the mega-auction, which is arguably one of their biggest strategic mistake in the history of the competition. Chahal later went on to join Rajasthan and proved to be a deadly spinner and helped the team win plenty of matches.

In the three seasons that Chahal played for RR, he has picked up 66 wickets, which is phenomenal, to say the least. He has been the difference with the ball and there’s no reason why the franchise would want to part ways with a match-winner like him. Head coach Rahul Dravid and Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara very well understand what Chahal brings to the table and for the same reason, they will look forward to retaining him.

Overall, the leg-spinner has played 160 games in the IPL and has picked up 205 wickets at an average of 22.44. If Rajasthan eventually retain the leggie, their spin bowling unit will be sorted and with Trent, their overall bowling unit looks good. Sanju, Yashasvi, Trent, Buttler and Chahal made Rajasthan a very strong side in recent times and retaining all of them means that the team can once again challenge for the title.
