Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have two losses and one win under their belt after playing three matches in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025).

Under new captain Rishabh Pant, the Super Giants started their IPL 2025 campaign with a gut-wrenching one-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam. Ashutosh Sharma's brilliance snatched victory for the Capitals from the jaws of defeat. Lucknow failed to defend a 210-run target in the high-scoring clash.

In their second game, the Super Giants bounced back in style as they made light work of a 191-run target set by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh smashed exhilarating half-centuries to set up the run chase. LSG romped home in 16.1 overs with five wickets to spare in Hyderabad.

Lucknow could not build on this win, though, as they were outplayed by Punjab Kings in their first home match of the season. The Shreyas Iyer-led side restricted Lucknow to 171/7 before chasing the total in 16.2 overs with eight wickets in hand.

Lucknow will hope to turn things around when they square off against Mumbai Indians in their forthcoming fixture at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 4.

Three changes MI should make to get back on track

3. Move Rishabh Pant to Number Three

Rishabh Pant has not had the best of starts in the LSG jersey. After being roped in for a record-shattering INR 27 crores at the mega auction last year, Pant would have hoped to lead his new team from the front in IPL 2025. While the league has just started, it is evident that the wicketkeeper-batter has not hit the ground running. His confidence seems to be low at the moment. He has struggled with the bat, scoring just 17 runs in three innings. His wicketkeeping has also been ordinary, as he has missed some regulation chances.

The Delhi cricketer has batted at No. 4 in all three games. Nicholas Pooran has come in to bat ahead of him at No. 3 and scored heavily. The West Indies wicketkeeper-batter should not mind swapping places with Pant in the batting order, as it could eventually lead to the betterment of the team. Batting at No. 3 will give the Indian stalwart more time to settle at the crease before playing extravagant shots.
