T20 World Cup 2022: Flop XI of Super 12 from Week 1
After the first week of the marquee event, a few big names disappointed their fans with their underwhelming performances.
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi
After becoming a star bowler for Pakistan with his attacking bowling in the last edition of the T20 World Cup, this year, Pakistani fans were hoping to see him dominate batters in the big games. The speedster returned to the squad after recovering from a knee ligament injury, but the premier pacer known for his lethal bowling didn’t perform according to his potential.
Afridi, known for bulldozing batting line-ups with his blazing speed and perfect line and length, looked completely helpless against batters in the first two matches of the tournament. He also lost his pace after making a comeback as his speed in both games was around 133 to 138 km/h.
Usually, the 22-year-old bowls above 140 km/h, but in this tournament, fans witnessed a radical drop in his pace. In the competition, Afridi failed has to get any wickets so far and his expensive bowling is still a headache for the Pakistan bowling line-up.
