In IPL 2024, MI will be under the captain Hardik Pandya, as their five-time IPL winning skipper Rohit Sharma was relieved of his duties by management keeping in mind certain factors. 3. Akash Madhwal

Akash Madhwal was the saving grace for Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma in the IPL 2023. Missing both Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah last season, MI found themselves with one of their weakest fast bowling units of all time. Archer had taken two wickets in the five matches he played that season due to his injury.

This left Rohit Sharma searching for a new bowler and Akash Madhwal stepped up. Hailing from Dehradun and originally a tennis-ball cricketer, Madhwal showed great skills and ability to follow instructions as he ran through opposition. He picked 14 wickets in 8 matches in IPL 2023 with a best of 5/5 and helped MI reach the playoffs.
