Ishant Sharma was retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 50 lakhs in the previous season but was released ahead of the mega-auction 2025. The right-hand pacer has played in 17 games in total since joining the Capitals in 2023. In two seasons, he has managed to pick 20 wickets at an economy of 8.23.

Ishant has been out of place in franchise cricket in the recent few years. The pacer, who is currently 36 years old, might not be in the team's prospects as they are searching for young pacers in their lineups. Furthermore, the Delhi-born player has an injury-prone body, which may prevent teams from selecting him for this season.
