2. Banned for three ODIs after 'crotch gesture' on TV, 2014

During the home series against Sri Lanka in February 2014, Shakib was frustrated with himself after getting dismissed on 24 in the second ODI. He failed to contribute to the team in a stiff run chase of 290 runs. Shakib, sitting in the dressing room, was distraught by the replays of his dismissal and getting flashed on the screen.

The left-hander pointed towards his crotch on live television, which was also shown on the giant screen in the stadium. The broadcasters then didn’t show any live footage of the Bangladesh dressing room.

Ultimately, Shakib was banned for three ODIs and fined BDT 300,000 (US $3800) by BCB. The then skipper Mushfiqur Rahim was involved in a failed attempt to request the board to reduce the ban in the best interest of Bangladesh cricket.
