Delhi Capitals (DC) are one of the four franchises that are yet to win the Indian Premier League title. There was a time when the franchise used to change and chop quite often but ever since they changed the name from Delhi Daredevils to Delhi Capitals, things have changed massively and they have become a better side but it's the trophy that's still missing.

Multiple legends of the game have played for the franchise. In 2008, their top order was stacked with the likes of Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Kevin Pietersen among others. They even qualified for the semi-finals in the year but failed to qualify for the final after losing to Rajasthan Royals by 105 runs.

Next year, they let their star batter Pietersen go, which was shocking to many. It has been how the franchise has fared for many years. A flop season would mean that a certain cricketer may not feature again for them. Courtesy of the same, a lot of cricketers have played for them and many of the fans don’t remember now. Who are they?

Let’s have a look at five players who once played for DC:

5. Glenn McGrath

Legendary Australia pacer Glenn McGrath was part of the Delhi Daredevils squad for two seasons. He was signed in the 2008 mega-auction for $US350,000 and played 14 games in the season, picking up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 6.61. Soon after that, McGrath lost her wife, due to complications after breast cancer surgery.

Everyone expected McGrath to retire after that, especially being 38 at that time. He didn’t play international cricket after the ODI World Cup final in 2007 but interestingly, McGrath showed extreme mental toughness, and returned back to IPL in 2009, at the age of 39.

He didn’t play any game that season but guided the likes of Ashish Nehra, Dirk Nannes and a very young Umesh Yadav. Delhi finished at the top of the table that season in South Africa but lost to Deccan Chargers by six wickets in the semi-finals.
