Match 4 of the Champions Trophy 2025 will witness Australia taking on England at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, February 22. The duel between the two arch-rivals is arguably one of the most eagerly-awaited clashes of this edition's tournament.

Australia are coming on the back of a series whitewash to Sri Lanka in the coastal country. They were quite convincingly defeated by the Lankans in both the ODIs. The batting lineup found it hard to cope with the spinning conditions presented. None of the batters truly stepped up to the task. The Men in Yellow have come into the tournament after having five of their first-team members not touring alongside for various reasons.

As for England, they have not had a merry buildup to the tournament either. Their recent white-ball series against India saw them going clean swept by a 3-0 margin, which came after a 4-1 drubbing in the 20-over leg. The English unit has looked out of touch if anything, and one would assume that they would want to change the narrative going forward.

Here are the top 3 player battles to watch out for from the Australia vs England clash:

3. Travis Head vs Mark Wood

Travis Head and Mark Wood are two such players who are known for their full-throttle approach, one with the bat and the other with the ball. Ahead of this game, Head has played only one 50-over game since October 2024. In contrast, Wood has been in regular touch off late.

In the 80 deliveries, the speedster has bowled to the left-handed Head in ODIs up until now, and the duel tilts marginally towards Head. The aggressive Southpaw has scored 95 runs so far. Wood has gotten the better of the batter twice. The battle between the two promises to be a riveting one in store.
