England all-rounder Sam Curran plays for Mumbai Indians’ owned MI Cape Town in the SA20 League. Back in 2022, the franchise roped him into their squad before the maiden SA20 auction. In December 2022, he scripted history as Punjab Kings (PBKS) snapped him up for a whopping sum of INR 18.50 crore. The massive amount made him the costliest player in IPL until December 19, 2023.

Playing for MI Cape Town in the inaugural SA20 League season, he got only eight wickets in nine matches at an economy of 8.85. Similarly, he looked ordinary for PBKS in the 2023 IPL, racking up only ten wickets and 276 runs in 14 games. However, both franchises have continued their contracts with the English player for further seasons despite his underwhelming performances.
