The former left-arm fast bowler Ashish Nehra was one of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad members. In the tournament, he featured in three games and took three wickets at an economy of 5.07. In the group match against South Africa, he faced the heat from fans for his miserable bowling figures (8.4-0-65-0).

However, the veteran played the important semi-final match against Pakistan and delivered a fine spell of (10-0-33-2) in a winning cause. In the final game at Wankhede, he couldn’t join the team’s playing XI due to a massive fracture. In 2016, he made a comeback to the national team after five years as he got a chance to play in a three-match T20I series against Australia. Later, he got selected for the T20 World Cup 2016 and appeared in all five games.

In November 2017, Nehra brought down the curtain on his international career after playing his last international T20I match against New Zealand. Nowadays, he enjoys his new innings as a commentator and expert. The former pacer is also the head coach of the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
