IPL 2023 : 3 All-rounder GT might target as Hardik Pandya's backup at auction
Apart from Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans do not have any top-drawer seam-bowling all-rounder in their arsenal.
2. Daniel Sams
Daniel Sams has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit. He has featured in 112 matches in the shortest format and scored 1047 runs at a stunning strike rate of 152.40. On the bowling front, the 30-year-old has picked up 131 wickets at an economy of 8.67. The ace all-rounder has displayed his might in the international arena as well. He has smashed 106 runs in 10 T20Is at a stunning strike rate of 170.96 and bagged seven wickets for Australia.
Mumbai Indians roped in the the Milperra-born for the 15th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament. Sams did a decent job with the ball bagging 13 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 8.81. However, he was quite mediocre with the bat and could score only 38 runs at a strike rate of 105.56. MI decided against reinvesting in the ace all-rounder for the upcoming season and parted ways with him.
Though Sams was not at his best in the previous edition, he is a valuable addition to any side with his ability to contribute in both departments. The Milperra-born can make the ball talk at the start of the innings and strangle batters with his variations at the death. Further, he is a ferocious striker of the cricket ball and can play handy knocks with the bat.
Sams offers a complete package to any side and could be a terrific backup for Hardik. Thus, Gujarat Titans could try to sign him at the upcoming auction.
