Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finished third in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), after losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the playoffs. Bangalore are the only side to have qualified for the knockout stage in each of the last three seasons and now in the upcoming IPL edition, they will look to take a step forward and lift the silverware.

In order to strengthen their team for the upcoming tournament, RCB tried to plug their loopholes at the 2023 IPL Auctions. In the latest player auction, English players Will Jacks and Reece Topley were the top buys for the franchise. However, in a recent development, Jacks has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he picked while serving his national team in Bangladesh. The English batter’s unavailability will certainly be a big blow for the three-time IPL finalists but they will look to find a solid replacement to fill his shoes.

However, apart from Jacks, RCB do have some phenomenal players in their ranks who can change the course of a game almost at will. Today, we will look at three such players who could play crucial role for the team in their upcoming matches.

Here are three RCB players to look out for in the upcoming competition

3. Siddharth Kaul

In the last IPL season, pacer Siddharth Kaul got only one game to play for his team RCB. In the match against Gujarat Titans (GT), he had an expensive run, finishing with figures of 0/43. Before the mini-auction, RCB retained Kaul for the 2023 season, banking on his experience and skills.

The 32-year-old has been active in the league since 2013 and has so far picked up 58 wickets in 55 league appearances at an economy of 8.63. Going by his fine numbers in the last domestic season, this time, he could be given a lot of chances in the playing XI by the team management.

For his domestic team Punjab, Kaul was the most successful bowler in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Scalping 19 wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 6.72, he ended up as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. He continued his form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, hunting 10 batters in six matches at an economy of 5.44.
