IPL 2023: 5 Players CSK should've picked in auction but they didn't
CSK were nowhere close to their best in IPL 2022 and finished the league stage at the second-last position.
4. Narayan Jagadeesan
Narayan Jagadeesan has been a bankable name in the Indian domestic circuit. The Coimbatore-born has featured in 44 List-A matches and scored 2090 runs at an average of 49.76. When it comes to the shortest format, he has scored 1064 runs in 51 games at a strike rate of 118.61.
Jagadeesan was in his elements in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 and dismantled bowling attacks for fun. The wicketkeeper-batter plundered 830 runs in eight games for Tamil Nadu at a strike rate of 125.37, which includes five centuries.
Chennai Super Kings only had Dhoni as their Indian wicketkeeper-batter heading into the IPL 2023 auction. The legendary cricketer is in the twilight of his career and it was anticipated that CSK would leave no stone unturned to re-sign Jagadeesan. Though the Chennai management showed interest in picking him at the auction, they did not raise the paddle after the bid crossed the INR 85 lakh mark. Eventually, KKR grabbed the Coimbatore-born for INR 90 lakh.
