IPL 2023: 5 Players CSK should've picked in auction but they didn't
CSK were nowhere close to their best in IPL 2022 and finished the league stage at the second-last position.
2. Joshua Little
The stocks of Joshua Little in the international circuit have been on a meteoric rise of late. The Dublin-born was quite phenomenal in the shortest format in 2022. He played 26 T20Is and picked up 39 wickets at an economy of 7.58, which is quite brilliant given he bowls a lot at the fag end of the innings.
Little also showed his class in the T20 World Cup 2022. The 23-year-old featured in seven matches at the T20 carnival and bagged 11 wickets at an economy of 7.00. He was the chief architect of an epic win against the eventual T20 world champions England, bagging two wickets for 16 runs.
Chennai Super Kings did not have quality death bowlers in the team, having released Dwayne Bravo (retired from IPL) and Chris Jordan ahead of the 2023 player auction. Thus, one thought CSK would add Little to their repertoire to lessen their death-bowling woes but it was not meant to be. It was Gujarat Titans that acquired the services of the Irish pacer for INR 4.4 crore for the upcoming season.
