IPL 2023: 5 Players from INR 1 crore bracket who might go unsold
Ahead of the player auction, 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas) have thrown in their names to go under the hammer.
3. Andrew Tye
Andrew Tye has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit and is renowned to deceive batters with his numerous variations. Tye has featured in 195 games in the shortest format and bagged 274 wickets at an economy of 8.11. Also, he is no muck with the bat and scored 551 runs at a strike rate of 122.44.
Tye went unsold at the 2022 mega auction but as Mark Wood got ruled out of the entire tournament due to an elbow injury, Lucknow Super Giants roped in the Australian pacer to fill Wood’s void. It was a golden chance for the 35-year-old to show his bowling might in the cash-rich league but he was not able to make the most of the opportunities that came his way.
The wily pacer featured in three games and could take only two scalps leaking runs at an economy of 9.73. Following Tye’s dismal performances, LSG decided against retaining him for the next season. The right-arm seamer will go under the hammer at the IPL 2023 auction. Given Tye performed poorly for Lucknow, franchises might not be interested in adding him to their arsenal.
