3. Noor Ahmad

Noor Ahmad has been one of the shining stars in the Afghanistan cricketing circles. The young prodigy broke onto the scene during the Shpageeza Cricket League 2019 where he bamboozled batters with his variations and took eight wickets in seven games. The stocks of the left-arm wrist spinner have been on a meteoric rise since then.

The 17-year-old has played a total of 43 matches in the shortest format so far and has picked as many wickets at an impressive economy of 7.38. Noor earned an IPL gig at this year’s mega auction making him the youngest player of the season. Unfortunately, he did not get a single game in the entire competition.

The Gujarat franchise already had the T20 giant Rashid Khan at their disposal.  With the ace-spinner in the mix, it was tough for Noor to make it into the starting XI. Further, R Sai Kishore complemented Rashid quite well and took six wickets in five games at an economy of 7.56.

To Add to that, GT also have a quality backup spin option in Jayant Yadav at their disposal, and therefore, keeping Noor on the team is more of a luxury than a need. Hence, the youngster's exit from the squad is certainly on the cards.
