IPL 2023: 5 Players RCB should've picked in auction but they didn't
These names could've solidified RCB in the sixteenth edition of the IPL as they have the capability to outclass the opponents with their talent.
2. Manish Pandey
Before the 2022 mini-auction 2022, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) released Manish Pandey, who was miserable with his bat. The veteran racked up only 88 runs for his franchise in six matches, at a horrendous strike rate of 110.00. Pandey has vast experience in the league and he has served six franchises so far in the 15 editions of the tournament.
With 3,648 runs in 160 IPL matches, he becomes a bankable player in the league. In 2009, he played for RCB in the second season of the tournament and notched up a fearless knock of 114 runs off 73 balls against Deccan Chargers. With this notable innings, the right-handed batter became a renowned batting name in the league.
At the mini-auction held last month, DC and RCB engaged in a bidding battle to get his services in the forthcoming season. In the end, DC picked him at INR 2.4 crore counting on his talent. However, the Bangalore-based franchise should’ve gone for Pandey as he could’ve done well for them in the middle order with his vast experience. In the 2022 edition, the franchise trusted Rajasthan’s Mahipal Lomror to reinforce their batting. However, Lomror delivered a flop show with the bat scoring only 86 runs for the franchise in seven games.
