3. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins is among the best seamers in the longest format of the game. The 29-year-old has featured in 43 Tests and bagged 199 wickets for Australia. Though he has not had the same success in the shortest format, he has done a fairly decent job for his national side. The ace seamer has picked 55 scalps in 50 matches at an economy of 7.37.

Kolkata Knight Riders decided to reinvest in Cummins for the 2022 season and picked him for a hefty sum of INR 7.25 CR. The bowling all-rounder picked seven wickets in five games but leaked runs at an economy of 10.69. On the batting front, the Sydney-born scored a blistering knock of 56 runs off 15 deliveries against Mumbai Indians in match 14 to take his side over the line.

Cummins has been an integral member of the KKR set-up due to the balance he provides to the side with his all-round prowess. However, the veteran all-rounder has decided not to take part in the upcoming edition of the lucrative T20 tournament and cited a packed international schedule including an Ashes series and the 2023 ODI World Cup as the reason for his unavailability.

On his Twitter account, Cummins tweeted "I’ve made the difficult decision to miss next year's IPL. The international schedule is packed with Tests and ODIs for the next 12 months, so will take some rest ahead of an Ashes series and World Cup. Thanks so much to Kolkata Knight Riders for their understanding. Such a terrific team of players and staff and I hope I can get back there ASAP."

Therefore, Kolkata decided to part ways with Cummins and released him ahead of the 2023 IPL auction.
