Daniel Sams has been a proven performer in the T20 circuit. He has featured in 110 matches in the shortest format and smashed 1045 runs at a stunning strike rate of 153.22. On the bowling front, the 30-year-old has bagged 126 wickets at an economy of 8.70. The Milperra-born has shown his might in the international arena as well. He has hammered 106 runs in 10 T20Is at a staggering strike rate of 170.96 and picked up seven wickets for Australia.

Mumbai Indians signed the left-arm pacer for the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. Sams fared well with the ball, bagging 13 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 8.81. However, he was quite mediocre with the bat and managed to score only 38 runs at a strike rate of 105.56. MI decided not to reinvest in the ace all-rounder for the upcoming season and released him from their squad.

Sams will go under the hammer at the IPL 2023 auction and has kept his base price at INR 75 lakhs. The Australian cricketer is an asset to any side due to his all-round prowess and many franchises could raise their paddles to sign him at the upcoming auction.

Here are five teams that might target Daniel Sams at IPL Auction:

5. Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad were not at their best in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league and ended the league stage at the eighth position with six wins in 14 games. Following a mediocre season, the Hyderabad franchise let go of 12 players from their squad.

The release list includes all-rounders such as Romario Shepherd and Sean Abbott, who were not able to impress with their performances. Though Shepherd struck 58 runs in three games at a strike rate of 141.46, he leaked runs at an economy of 10.89. On the other hand, Abbott gave away runs at an alarming rate of 11.75 in the lone game he played.

SRH will head into the upcoming auction with a staggering sum of INR 42.25 crore in their purse and could look to rope in top-drawer cricketers to fill the all-round void in the team. Hyderabad are likely to go all guns blazing for T20 stars such as Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Jason Holder, and Cameron Green.

With the franchise expected to break the bank to sign either of these four cricketers, they would want to rope in some all-round reinforcements at an affordable price. So, the Hyderabad franchise could look at Sams, who has been a consistent performer in the T20 circuit.
