IPL 2023: Top 5 batting performances from sixth week of tournament
Here are the top 5 batting performances from the sixth week of the IPL.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal's 98* vs KKR
Yashasvi Jaiswal is continuing his dream run in this edition's IPL. The Mumbai batter has been in sensational form. Chasing a modest total of 150 on a slow Eden track wasn't as effortless as Jaiswal made it look. With Sanju Samson, he chased down the total inside the 14th over to boost RR's net run rate.
From ball one, Jaiswal made his intentions clear. He got after the part-timer Nitish Rana who came in to bowl the first over. He went after the Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper and accumulated 26 runs in the very first over, making it the joint-second most expensive first over in IPL history. He continued from there on, though he lost Jos Buttler to a run-out. He played some picturesque shots all along the ground.
Jaiswal brought up the fastest IPL half-century when he touched the 50-run mark in just 13 balls. His batting carnage with Sanju Samson took the game away from KKR inside the powerplay. He spared no bowler, and took his chances and those paid off well.
