IPL 2024 auction saw a lot of exciting buys at the auction table, where for the first time, two players touched the 20-crore mark in the auction history. There were also many uncapped Indian players getting huge bids, showcasing the franchise’s knowledge of Indian domestic cricket. The spectacular auction saw a whirlwind of record-breaking bargains and smart deals, resulting in fantastic line-ups for the ten franchises that promise an electrifying season ahead. As the dust settles on the hotly contested auction, it's time to unearth the potent mix of talent and knowledge that makes up the best XI from the pool of sold players. Here's the best XI from sold players in IPL 2024 auction: 1. Travis Head Travis Head in 1st T20. Head is expected to open the innings for SRH and might be employed as a spin option. SRH have very good eight overseas players and it will be a headache for them to choose the four best to play. Head will give SRH much-needed aggression at the top of the order. 2. KS Bharat (WK) KS Bharath. (Photo Source: Twitter) KS Bharat’s journey from one franchise to another in the IPL continued as he will now play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024. KKR needed a good keeper to back up Rahmanullah Gurbaz and after trying out Baba Indrajith, N Jagadeesan, and a few others, they opted for KS Bharat. Batting-wise, Bharat is a safe batter and has the big shots in his arsenal, something he had shown for the RCB a couple of seasons ago. 3. Manish Pandey Manish Pandey. (Photo Source: BCCI/IPL) Manish Pandey will return to KKR once more as he was bought by the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise in the IPL 2024 auction. The first Indian batter to hit a century in IPL, Pandey’s career trajectory has taken a huge downward spiral. In 170 IPL matches, Pandey has 3808 runs with 22 fifties and one century with a strike rate of 120.97. 4. Daryl Mitchell Daryl Mitchell. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Chennai Super Kings (CSK) splurged INR 14 crore on New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. The all-rounder had an excellent outing in ICC World Cup 2023, with over 550 runs with two centuries. With Ben Stokes pulling out of IPL 2024, CSK needed another all-rounder to fill in for him, and who better than Mitchell. The burly New Zealand provides them with fire-power with the bat in the middle order and four overs of decent medium pace. 5. Sameer Rizvi Sameer Rizvi (Photo Source: Twitter) Sameer Rizvi has been called the ‘right-handed Suresh Raina’ and his performances in the recent UP T20 league earned him huge laurels. This and some praise by Suresh Raina himself was enough for Raina’s former IPL franchise, CSK to splurge money on Rizvi and buy for INR 8.4 crore. Rizvi will probably take over the spot left vacant by Ambati Rayudu in the MS Dhoni-led side’s XI. 6. Shahrukh Khan Shahrukh Khan (Photo Source: twitter) Punjab Kings had nurtured and spent quite some time and money on Shahrukh Khan. However, they surprisingly released him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Gujarat Titans very smartly pounced on the chance to get him in their squad. He will provide them with some much-needed firepower in the lower order and bring some relief to Rahul Tewatia. This solves a big problem of lower-order hitting for GT after Hardik Pandya left for MI. 7. Ramandeep Singh Ramandeep Singh MI. (Photo Source: Twitter) Ramandeep Singh had done well in the limited opportunities that he got in MI in IPL 2023. But in the IPL 2024 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders brought him to solidify their middle order and provide them with some bowling options as well. Ramandeep Singh has a strike-rate of 155 in T20s and has picked 13 wickets for Punjab. His presence will also give Andre Russell some respite from big-hitting duties for KKR. 8. Wanindu Hasaranga Wanindu Hasaranga (Photo Source: Devesh/Twitter) Wanindu Hasaranga was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 1.5 crore which was his base price. This was a huge steal deal for SRH, who needed a match-winning spinner like him after Rashid Khan’s departure. Hasaranga was brilliant for RCB and it was a surprise, they didn’t go all out to buy him back at the auction. The Sri Lankan wizard will form a terrific partnership with Washington Sundar in the spin department to lessen SRH’s woes. 9. Harshal Patel Harshal Patel. (Photo Source: BCCI/IPL) Harshal Patel was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. He was then paid INR 11.75 crore by Punjab Kings in the auction and will provide huge support to Punjab's bowling arsenal. PBKS needed an experienced India pacer to go with Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran, and Nathan Ellis and Harshal gives them just what they wanted. 10. Mitchell Starc Mitchell Starc. Starc, who hasn’t played IPL since 2016, prioritised Test cricket over the T20 leagues and will make his return after eight years. He will provide much-needed experience to KKR pacers, whose Indian contingent will be Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, apart from foreign pacers. 11. Kartik Tyagi Karthik Tyagi RR. (Photo Source: Twitter) Kartik Tyagi spent a lot of time on the bench for SRH in the last few seasons of IPL, but in the recent IPL 2024 auction, he was bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 60 lakh. This looks like a very good buy by the IPL 2022 champions. They needed a young Indian pace option amidst the experience of Umesh Yadav, Mohit Sharma, and Mohammad Shami in their ranks. After releasing Alzarri Joseph, Tyagi will be the fastest bowler GT will have as he recently clocked over 152kph consistently in the domestic white-ball tournaments.
