Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be up against each other in the 65th match of the IPL 2024 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on the Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 PM (IST). It is the second home venue of RR after Jaipur. The encounter will be one of the two matches scheduled at Guwahati. In a season where high-scoring games have been a norm, this might turn out to be a unique surface. In the IPL 2023, a couple of games took place at the venue.

RR seemed to have almost all the bases covered in the first half. However, in the last few games, the cracks seem to have opened up. Barring Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, there has not been enough contribution with the bat from the other end. While the bowling unit of RR has been the best, they are going through a loss of form. PBKS has one of the best bowling units in the ongoing season. Their batting is a concern as barring Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, others have not been consistent.

PBKS are already eliminated from the tournament given their poor win record this season. Along with MI and GT, they are the only side to have been eliminated. They will lose some of the key players like Jonny Bairstow and Sam Curran due to England's assignment against Pakistan. From RR, star stumper-batter and opener Jos Buttler will be returning home. The home side has qualified for the playoffs, but has a lot to ponder. The result of the match might not make a huge impact on the points table.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of players who have represented both the franchises in the league's history. Today, we will discuss three such cricketers who were a part of both the teams.

Here are the three active players who have played for both RR and PBKS in the history of the league -

3. Sandeep Sharma

Sandeep Sharma has been a part of Rajasthan Royals since 2023. He has been one of the best death bowlers in the last couple of seasons for the 2008 champions. The right-arm pacer has 20 wickets in 19 games for the Royals at a bowling average of 30.30, a strike-rate of 21.60, and an economy rate of 8.42. In his stint with RR so far, the medium pacer has registered the best match figures of 5/18.

Before being picked by RR, Sandeep was a part of SRH and PBKS. The Punjab-born seamer started his IPL career for PBKS, where he was the best bowler for his side over a period of time. The experienced cricketer played 61 matches for the 2014 runner-ups and claimed 73 wickets at a bowling average of 23.84, and an economy rate of 7.76. The pace bowler was a wicket-taker and often got away with economical spells.
