The IPL 2023 auction was done and dusted on December 23. All the ten participating franchises spent a total of INR 167 crores to acquire 80 players at the marquee event. Many top-drawer players such as Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Cameron Green featured at the auction and franchises went into a bidding war to sign them.

However, there were certain players, who despite stamping their authority on the cricket field time and time again, did not draw much attention from the franchises at the auction. And fans witnessed these cricketers taking home a substantially lower sum.

Here are 5 players who deserved more money at IPL 2023 auction:

5. Vidwath Kaverappa

Vidhwath Kaverappa has set the Indian domestic circuit on fire with his stunning bowling displays. He wreaked havoc in the 2022 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and picked up 18 wickets in eight games for Karnataka that too at a superb economy of 6.36.

Kaverappa continued his good work in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 and bagged 17 wickets in eight matches at an economy of 3.53. He made the ball talk at the start of the innings and provided his side with early breakthroughs. The ace pacer also delivered the goods in the slog overs.

Given Kaverappa’s stature in the domestic arena was on a meteoric rise, it was expected that he would fetch big bucks at the IPL 2023 auction but it was not to be. Punjab Kings acquired his services for just INR 20 lakh at the marquee event.
