Considering Manish Pandey’s vast experience in the league, Delhi Capitals (DC) fetched him for the 2023 season in the previous auction, but he looked completely out of rhythm. Donning Delhi’s jersey, he racked up only 160 runs in 10 matches at a horrendous strike rate of 109.59.

With these numbers, Pandey was likely to be axed from the DC squad before the auction and that happened as his name didn’t feature in Delhi’s retention list. Recently, the 34-year-old struggled to be among the runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2023-24, as well. Playing four games for Karnataka, he could pile up only 39 runs in three innings, at a terrible strike rate of 88.63.

His consistent failure with the bat might go against him in the 2024 IPL auction as no franchise might get convinced to invest their valuable money in him. In the cash-rich T20 extravaganza, his last effective performance came in 2020, for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), when he scored 425 runs in 16 games.
